Prefer buying certified diamonds
When you go shopping for gold or platinum, you are assured of the quality as these precious metals come with a hallmark. So, you are assured of the quality standards but this can not be said about the diamonds as there is no such hallmarking for the stones.
In the case of diamonds, its quality certificate is the only basis for an average customer. Of course, a jeweler can always tell if the stone is genuine or fake but the customers can not rely on the jeweler’s word. Hence, diamonds much be purchased only when they are certified for quality.
When asking for the quality certificate of the diamond, makes sure that it comes from GIA or other reputed organization. Such a certificate contains all the aspects of the diamond and clearly states about the external blemishes, internal flaws, if any. The certificate will also mention the symmetry of the cut, fluorescence and other notes regarding the precious stone you intend to purchase for the engagement rings.
